![]() ![]() While I was debating if it was even possible that a software package even could make half of the claims made on it’s behalf even audible, the price dropped to $995 - and Sonic Studios then announced a “Mini” version, with a much more affordably price of $395. At the time, it retailed (at that time) for $1500 a pop. Now, I should mention at this point that Amarra is not cheap and it’s a software package. I called up Sanjay over at Ciamara in NY and ordered me up a copy. I was promised better sound staging, truer fidelity, deeper bass response, a less harsh treble, a sexier tube-like mid-range, lower jitter, and a huge return on my taxes that year. As one of the sad clueless, I was promised all manner of goodness should i dare explore the wonders. And by ‘gold standard’, I mean ‘brick that computer audiophiles use to bludgeon the unenlightened’. ![]() What was preferred, almost universally, was a little program called Amarra, from Sonic Studios.Īmarra, which just released v2.1 this week, has been the “gold standard”. Hanging out there, I noticed right away that a great many folks there loved Apple hardware (the computers, anyway) but hated Apple software. Then, this year, I upgraded both my DAC and my interface for it after spending just a bit too long on the Computer Audiophile forums. First, through a sweet PS Audio D元 DAC that I had modded by Cullen Circuits. Good!Īnyway, I’ve been fiddling with computer audio -based playback for some number of years. □ I have not always been a fan, though, but I think it was OS X that did it for me. I guess you could say that I just got sick of doing Windows. I suppose that I should know as I have three on my desk, another in the living room - and there’s an Apple TV in there, too. There is not universal advice.Life is different with an Apple. If you prefer inline processing, you need to check sound for each player at your equipment.Īlternatively, you can use offline pre-conversion of audio file resolution and bit-perfect playback.īoth ways have advantages and disadvantages. Gapless playback ability is important for uninterrupted musical albums.Ģ. There is standard buffer implementation is enough. ![]() Playback song, full loaded to memory, and other same things do not impact to sound quality in general case. If you prefer playback files without processing you need player software with bit-perfect playback ability. There is no the best for all people and all equipment.ġ. Which is in your opinion the best player in addressing both the above issues? thx The problems I see are 2:ġ) iTunes is not the best as for audio quality Though I am not looking for a full alternative to iTunes, eg, for music library & metadata management, playlists etc, I'll be still using iTunes. ![]() I’ve yet to discern that BitPerfect actually does anything ? Fidelia is outdated, though I like it’s sound. Amarra 4 Luxe sounds great, but can be buggy, though that’s improved lately.īoth Amarra 4 and Audirvana have a functional iTunes integration mode. Of the others, Audirvana is the best programmed, but I personally do not care for its sound. Best interface, by a country mile is Roon. Thanks in advance for all thoughtful contributions. So far, I ripped my CD music with iTunes. I am looking for best player/best user interface.Īlso, I'd like to ask if anyone has noticed differences in ripping of these players. ITunes seems still limited to manage only compressed music or CD quality one, while I'd like to start buying HD Music from eg. Hi there! I am wondering whether someone has made recently comparisons between these players on Mac platform. ![]()
